A shinto god of calamity wishes to become something else. He reworks himself, without a known purpose, drifting out of the mind of the people of his homeland.
He fights the pull of the far shore, away from humanity, by calling himself a delivery god. He desperately clings to the hope of raising enough to build his own shine, rebuilding himself up to become a greater god of Japan.
While doing so, he acts in his old role, reforming himself into a War god. He is thanklessly protecting the people of Japan from evil phantoms that can beings that can corrupt the souls of the living and the dead.
His fate begins to change upon meeting a girl while he is on a job trying to find a young boy's cat. While going in the street, a high school student tries to save him from being hit by a bus.
Hiyori Iki ends up with her soul separated from her body. Awakening in the hospital, she finds herself talking to an odd man in a track suit with a fluffy fluffy scarf.
He informs her that she has part of her soul her soul is falling out of her body. She is the victim of Astral Projection the way that other people suffer from narcolepsy.
Hiyori offers Yato the traditional 5 yen coin to make her wish to be cured. He accepts.
This begins her awakening to the world of the Kami if Japan. A world of adventure, wonder and horror.
This is a fun one. I'll leave the basics to the wiki below, but I don't know anyone that didn't like this one.
