There is more background given and here the Manga version of the 11 PM phone call.
As the merger lead, Yuta Sakurai begins to see the need to headhunt Moriko Morioka back into the company. Unknown to both at the time, this would put him into the position of not being able to date based on both work and guild rules.
This will also correspond to Lily and Hayashi becoming partners.

Chibi Reviews
Within the manga, there are two different pictures forming. One of Moriko Morioka remembering all the bad things she went through.
Another of Yuta Sakurai trying to figure out how to troubleshoot a consistent issue for a troubled division they've acquired. His higher ups want to use the divisions software for the whole company with more than 20 subsidiaries, they liked the idea on paper and likely only bought the company for this tech. The reality is becoming Yuta Sakurai's nightmare and a situation that could make or damage his career.
The wheels of business are turning. The parent company might be on its way to making a mistake.
Love of the system's possibilities has opened the door for a divisional cancer to spread into the new larger corporate structure. That said, the new boss of the division will be Yuta Sakurai.
He's trying to troubleshoot all the problems and make it easier on all the subsidiaries to work together. His own OCD has led him to see the problems. Like the healer he plays, he is trying to fix them.
Moriko Morioka tries her hand at Loot Boxes.

The author, Rin Kokuyō, continues to show us deep knowledge of online systems that are at least as deep as WOW. This includes the player economy.
As well as, the spam that comes from having a popular character or rare class that people see you as good at playing.
Also how a "no player collision" system can lead to people standing on top of you...
The love triangle begins.

Another note worth seeing is that there is a married couple in the guild, which kind of wears at the no romance rule. This couple alone is 1/3rd of the daily players.
They are these characters
Pokotaro - Himeralda’s spouse in real life. He's the executive guild leader. His wife likes to take over his toon when she is mad at the guild leader as she knows that it bothers both men.
Himeralda - Pokotaro’s spouse in real life.
This isn't the smallest matter, as the couple that the anime is focused on isn't the only potential couple here.
This leads to the other part that Lilac, shown in game and real life, is starting to have feelings for the guild master.
The Guild Master
Ironically, by the end of the anime, these are the only daily players left that are not in a real life relationship as well. Lilac and the Guild Master could be a good match. They might even be going to the same college. A significant amount of the population of Japan lives in Toyko and its likely at the most these two are a short train ride apart at most.
