There will be those that think the idea of running into people in games with more than one character name is something mathematically impossible. Dear sweet summer children, I ran into my World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King era Arena partner in Aion.
Though we lived in different states, we eventually got together. Though it didn't work out in the long run, we were together for years.
Our story isn't unusual. Though most couples that met online also don't work out, it isn't any mathematically different than dating in the normal way.
Most of HAUNT is married now, both past and present. As a guild that has been around for more than just one decade, most have played games with the significant others and raised children together.
This of course means, for any of us, we don't play games as often as we used to. Priorities shift when you are parents and time becomes harder to share with your other friends.
That said, stories like this not only happen, they are a lot more common than many would think. Love happens. It often happens with those we share our hobbies and passions with.
That said, there are a lot of bad people online. You do have to be careful.
Not every story has a happy ending with this, but you will never know if you are too afraid to roll the dice on the right person. It is as Napoleon Bonaparte said, "Fortune favors the bold."

The scenes at Yuta Sakurai's apartment appears to be where Chapter 87 leaves off. I won't post the link as the main source is a Chinese version and it wants to force you to join a website. If the link is accurate, I'm assuming the anime was done with Rin Kokuyō telling the anime staff where the story was going.
This is a great work that was shut down way ahead of its time due to illness. There appears to be a reason that Division head Ikeda Ririka was described the way she was. It was a very personal way for Rin Kokuyō to describe someone or something as horrible.
After all, as Rin Kokuyō referred to the main villain of her work as cancer, there are sources that point to that cancer itself is the very thing that was trying to kill the writer and illustrator. Her health has gotten better and fallen several times over the past few years, which is a possibly multiples cycles of remission and the return of the illness.
