"All great sci-fi is: Be careful what you wish for." -Damon Lindelof
“Dying is easy, comedy is hard” -Edmund Gwenn
What would it actually be like to have many of the powers we attribute to superheroes? Would it be what we visualize in our imaginations for would it be something awful, because we hadn't fully grasped why that would be horrible?
What would it be like to have X ray vision? What would it be like if you were always seeing the skeletons and interiors of people?
What would it be like to have the ability to teleport? What if you couldn't control it when you are startled but you were trying to hide that you had powers in the first place?
What if you had Super Strength? What would it be like to always have to be careful with things so you don't destroy them?
What if you had Precognition? What if you always felt obligated to stop the accidents that happen around you?
What if you had telepathy? What if you couldn't shut off the endless stream of other people's thoughts roaring as load as a stadium full of people?
These questions start off one of the great comedies of Anime. It is one of the great stories of be careful what you would wish for as it might just make you miserable.
It is ultimately the story of someone superhuman, who just wants to be a regular person. Because they can never be normal, they just try not to stand out and wish to be alone whenever possible.
The cast of people he comes in contact with, would never let that happen. The Disastrous Life of Saiki K is a hilarious situation comedy with an amazing supporting cast, with the Japanese voice actors and even the English dub actors giving it their all to really bust you gut.
Without giving names, here are just a few, each who begins to obsessively tries to hang out with the loner and won't leave him alone. In doing so, they draw the attention of others as well, which is Saiki's own personal hell.
There is a gorilla of a man so stupid, he literally has no thoughts to read. There is another young man with delusions of grandeur, pretending he is in some action Shonen. There is the hyper competitive sports guy. There is a really sleazy psychic medium. There are far more.
There is one character; however, that stands out far above the rest. It is a person who brings crowds of human beings with them where ever they go.
She is the classic troupe of the prettiest girl in school. Teruhashi Kokomi is that troupe turned up to 11. Outwardly, she is the perfect girl. Inwardly, she is a conceited gold digger.
She is used to being worshipped by every man she meets. Saiki ignores her. Thus, she begins to obsess over the on guy that won't pay her any attention.
I'd highly recommend the The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. It's a highly rewatchable comedy anime that is well worth your time. You can find this on Netflix.

wiki quote,
"Kusuo Saiki is one of the high school students who was born having various psychic powers, including psychokinesis and teleportation. He attempts to hide it from everyone at school. He is put in several seemingly normal scenarios in which he uses it to hide his special powers."
Review from RocksterCA:
The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. – Opening Theme 1 – Youth Isn't So Cruel
The color surrounding you was different from that of other people
You smiled vaguely and I softly averted my eyesI decided it's okay to tell lies as long as they are kind
And you caught on to that
Thereafter I too realized the fact that you found outI don't want to get hurt, but I want to know more about you
The truth is always deep inside your eyes
I don't want to hurt you, but I want you to know me
Youth isn't cruel so let's look at each other in the eyesA school of fish is fluttering, I can't keep living like this
I judged everything based on beautyWhat are you thinking with that mysterious expression?
Like a ball that is sliding
Not knowing where you're going, just shiningJust like saving shallow water by decorating it in the light
The true feelings were transparent
We tended to daydream without doubting anything
Without looking at the ocean, we believed in youthIt might break, I might break it
The reason why I don't like saying goodbye is because
I don't know how to do it without hurting youThe both of us thought the same thing at the same time
Perhaps our chemistry was a bit good after allI want to tell you the whole truth, that's why
Youth is not cruel
It's just that you were so beautiful
I may not have the right to say this but
You were shiningsource: https://www.animesonglyrics.com/the-disastrous-life-of-saiki-k/seishun-wa-zankoku-ja-nai
