"It ain't about how hard you can hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward," -Rocky, from the movie Rocky Balboa

“Fight one more round. When your feet are so tired that you have to shuffle back to the centre of the ring, fight one more round. When your arms are so tired that you can hardly lift your hands to come on guard, fight one more round. When your nose is bleeding and your eyes are black and you are so tired you wish your opponent would crack you one on the jaw and put you to sleep, fight one more round – remembering that the man who always fights one more round is never whipped.”  -James Corbett, World Heavyweight Boxing Champion from September 7, 1892 to March 17, 1897

In the Vietnam War, combat medics had a tragically low life expectancy during firefights, often estimated to be just 6 seconds. This was due to their role as front-line rescuers, making them prime targets for the enemy, according to Hero's Bridge. https://herosbridge.org/heros-bridge-honors-combat-medic-on-5k-medal/

This priority targeting is even true in things as innocent and safe as multiplayer video games.  In pvp video games, any team failing to target the healers first is literally asking to lose.

This gets absolutely brutal in high level competitions.  There is a good reason why so many players refuse to play support.

This is such a vital part of online multiplayer player versus player battles that there have been literal mods made to automatically target healers for priority killing in games.   Here's one example that decimated the number people in WOW willing to play Healers in pvp enough that the original author of "All Healers Must Die" had feelings about it and renamed "Healers Have To Die" while adding protector functions: https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/h-h-t-d

As pvp support, you have the power to clutch games, even in pick up groups.   The price is being the priority target for the enemy.

So, back to the anime, to be clear, this is not the story of a typical main character.   This is the story of an underrated support character.

If pvp healers ever wanted an anime made of them, this is it.   That’s right down to the pure nastiness of the job in high levels of competition.

Three heroes from earth are summoned in a common Isekai troupe.   Two obviously test for hero status, they were the student president, Suzune Inukami, and student vice president, Kazuki Ryusen, of their high school.

Both would be the typical leads for any story, being exceptionally talented, intelligent, and powerful people.  They are literally the people that anime's fawn over constantly.

Both are given the typical hero's treatment.  Kazuki Ryusen even becomes the love interest of the local princess.

This is not their story.   I assume this gave a cliche wielding executive in some publishing or anime company an ulcer from the sheer shock.

The third student is Ken Usato.  His magic test confirms he is a rare magic healer, rather than a hero.  This is something that sends the people who summoned him into a sympathy panic on his behalf.

I'll simply say a competitive pvp guild leader, Rose, comes in and involuntarily drags him off to the story.   This is not an exaggeration.

You may now que the training montage.   It is brutal.

This is in great contrast to the two heroes pretty much living the easy life in the castle.  Ken Usato goes through literal hell.

This is his story.  This is also the story of other crazy bastards that do the unsung job of rescue, under enemy fire in combat.

Other than that, I’ll give no spoilers.   It gets the thumbs up of a support pvp vet from several games.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I'd like to welcome you to what the armed forces calls "the suck".  Again, if you ever wanted an anime about what it is like to be a competitive pvp healer, this is it.

You can't have diamonds without pressure.   You have to adapt and overcome.

waterweed - Cure (Visualizer)

[TV Version]
The towering wall is simply tall and thick
Not for giving up, but for overcoming it
Because I believe
For thousands of nights and tens of thousands of mornings, keep challenging
Without averting your eyes
Even in the final chapter, if you reach it
It's okay to leave behind scars
Stand up again
Again and again
Don't look back
Just towards the future
Just towards the future

[Full Version]
The towering wall is simply tall and thick
Not for giving up, but for overcoming it
Because I believe
For thousands of nights and tens of thousands of mornings, keep challenging
Without averting your eyes
Even in the final chapter, if you reach it
It's okay to leave behind scars
It's easy to give up
No one can stop you
But you're still standing here
You want to keep trying yet
You know that more than anybody else
For thousands of nights and tens of thousands of mornings, keep challenging
Without averting your eyes
Even in the final chapter, if you reach it
It's okay to leave behind scars
Even droplets can pierce stones
In the very end, if you can smile
It's okay to leave behind scars
Stand up again
Again and again
Don't look back
Just towards the future
Just towards the future

ChouCho Official Channel

[Official MV] ChouCho - Green jade(TVアニメ『治癒魔法の間違った使い方』ED主題歌)

The beginning is sudden, without a sound
And all the scenery reflected in my eyes begins to change
Even the stones scattered at my feet
Seem to shine a little for some reason
Because your profile reflects dazzlingly every time we meet
Like newly sprouted
Young leaves, so obediently
Overflowing with transparent light
Be guided by the wind and move forward without hesitation
If I'm with you, we should be able to go anywhere
Even if it's nothing special, we can become anything
Believe in the strength awakened deep in your heart
Even if there are high walls waiting ahead
Whether to fear or enjoy is up to oneself
Where does the curiosity in those eyes come from?
With earnestness and softness
A radiance like jade
As long as it doesn't disappear forever
You, who grow faster than the changing seasons
I feel a little bit of sadness
But I want to be by your side, watching the future
That your honest eyes gaze upon. Ah
Be guided by the wind and move forward without hesitation
If I'm with you, we should be able to go anywhere
Countless encounters will shape tomorrow
Breaking down the ideal images built up from the past
Be struck by the rain but keep moving forward without withering
If I'm with you, we should be able to go anywhere
Even if it's nothing special, we can become anything
Believe in the strength awakened deep in your heart
