*7/30/2025 This thread was coughing up hairballs on cellphones. I've expanded it and moved the screenshots from imgur to here. It's far more spaced and should cut down on the load times. Our threads auto embed, unless it's our site, so it drags the load times. *

Believe it or not we had some late era Guardian COX threads survive, I'll post them here. I just found this today:
Note: This video is from an attempted relaunch rather than the original Guardian Wars. That said, for those that never played COX pvp, check out the speed and mobility of players within the game. It's faster than most assume. =)
Guardian Wars

Above, there was a thread on restarting the main server pvp event on Guardian, I had a chance to respond back in 2009.
I got note on our website to check this out from an old ally in BOP.
If you want to restart the Guardian Wars, you need to do the following:
1. You HAVE to build coalitions with both sides. In the first run, BOP was our center guild for Villians and TA helped fill the numbers you'll see for number two. That's a simple number though in truth, we had agreements and props to at least 10 different guilds on both sides to keep numbers consistantly up. On top of that dozens of guilds joined in the original Wars.
2. The Guardian Wars work best in RV when the numbers are above 50 vs 50. The ideal is around 100 vs 100. The reason being that individual builds matter less in that large of an engagement. The complaint is normally lag, but this is the way we made the whole thing work.
3. It has to be made in such a way that the hardcore pvper has plenty to do and the casual pvper has to be able to have fun too. The central idea of the wars was to grow the pvp base of Guardian. At one time it was 1/3 of the total players online on boths sides, which is a record that no other server ever touched.
4. You have to capture the hearts and minds of the community.
Guardian, you all had a lot to be proud of with the old Wars. It was never just me or HAUNT.
The best chance the Wars have for balance is the next expansion, when your blue toons can be bad guys, it allows for a total spread on both sides. It also takes care of the "lol villian" realities that dogged us, because of game mechanics.
The expansion might take care of everything that makes the current issues. If you guys and girls really want it to happen, that might make the best time to make it last for a year or years.
/salute
No other server ever caught up to us having 1/3rd of the concurrent users at the event, with more than one instance and hundreds of players, that world record stands until this day. So congrats Guardian, you have still got a number one on the COX pvp charts in 2025. =)
Some quick notes on why people obsessed over pvp in this game.
1. It's tab target and there are powers within it that system that mess up targeting with that like chaff and flare defense for a real fighter aircraft.
2. Tanks and Brutes can use taunt on players to switch their target. I've never seen that work in another game.
3. Builds were extremely varied and could add layers of unpredictable play.
4. You could hostile teleport a character to the middle of a group to curb stomp a villain or hero.
5. You could teleport an ally out of a bad situation.
6. There was a resurrection ability that went off like a bomb to enemies known as Rite of the Phoenix, as well as other weird abilities.
7. Travel powers, stealth and invisibility played out in ways different from other games.
8. Buffs were normally around only 60 seconds so support players were busy and much other the other play was fast paced.
9. There were many powers for each toon to manage, fire off, toggle, and watch in a fight.
10. Masterminds could send their minions to attack players on the other side of the map.
11. Many other things...
Gathering swarm of supervillains...
Incoming swarm of superheroes...
Killing a myth, for the pvp haters

us on page 2 The old guild website addy is on wayback: https://haunt2003.com/index.php/community/main-forum/welcome-to-the-new-haunt-website/
ghost-pa.com from 2003-2013
Name- HAUNT
Server- Guardian
Faction- Villains
Size- Medium 40 member cap by guild charter
Recruiting- By invite only and only after agreeing to the rules outlined on www.ghost-pa.com
Contacts- @Laylyn
PVP Preference- Zone (After 2 years of 2-4 hours of nightly base defense in SWG, bases raids don't appeal to us. Also, Arena is like fighting WW III inside a small McDonalds. Much of the guild is active military or former military, so for us, no search and destroy equals boring.)History- HAUNT / Ghost was the largest Imperial guild in old SWG on Bria, which was also the largest server. We averaged 300-500 active members and had the first metropolis not only on the server, but in the game. Most of the core members have been playing together since at least 2003.
We were an active member of the Imperial Coalition which spanned 28 guilds, consisted of over 1,800 pvpers, covered the globe, and the IC / ID dominated the pvp scene of Bria even while typically outnumbered 3 to 1 by the other side. We are actively involved with the Dominion again, which is what that organization evolved into, meaning we aren't always on Guardian and COX, if there is pvp elsewhere.
As many of you know, SWG killed itself. We moved on to other projects, since our former game is worth less than used toilet paper now.
We are currently here as a villains only group, in WOW, and in Guildwars. Being tired of large guild politics, we have capped our membership to avoid click problems and we are really, really strict about recruitment, having turned away over 200 applicants since January. That doesn't mean any of them were bad players, it just means they weren't what we were looking for. Weirdly enough, sometimes good players don't match with good guilds, it's just play style differences.
We've been lucky enough to part time here and have found some good opponent guilds. We are currently happy to be pvping against many of the Guardian Hero guilds and enjoy bouts with the servers largest Hero guild TA, which has proven to be a lot of fun and generally is a good sports thing overall. Several other local SG guilds are stepping up as well. So, I never see Guardian becoming the prime time ghost town I hear about on other servers. It's always good to develop your enemies, we've got more groups trying to fight us now than we normally have time for in a week.
We like playing the underdogs. We like flipping the game on its head. We like winning when the game mechanics are designed to prevent this.
We are also looking at other games being developed in 2007 and 2008. Large scale battles and flipping the controlling PVP faction of a server with allies is our thing. We're looking to blow people up here and elsewhere for years to come.
